Ascent – 56/365

This bird is a scissor-tail flycatcher, though it is hard to see the trade mark scissor tail in this photo.  I was exploring an area near where I work, looking for interesting patterns in the grass and concrete (I must have looked really strange).  I noticed that all I could hear was birds singing and the wind blowing.

I stopped for a bit to enjoy the sounds of nature.  For the first time in a while, I couldn’t hear any modern noises even though I was still in the heart of civilization.

The birds were difficult to approach, but they had no problem letting me drive up to them at a steady 5 mph.  If anyone saw a guy in a grey Accord driving slow slow circles around a parking lot with his head out the window and camera in hand…. that was me.  Please don’t put video up on YouTube.
